Marty Moo's - Peterborough

We visited Marty Moo's on the recommendation of a friend while in the Peterborough area. They are known for their chicken and ribs so of course we included that in our order. We did order kids meals for our children which included Kraft Dinner, a hot dog and fries. The hot dog was your typical dog although I did find it a bit strange that they spit it down the middle to cook it which for a very picky 3 year old, was a bit unsettling. We had to put it back together before convincing him to take a bite. On to the adult meals: My husband ordered the chicken and rib platter with a baked potato and coleslaw. The ribs were really good- char grilled and tender. The chicken was a bit small but also pretty good although not outstanding. I ordered the fish and chips (a greek salad substituted for the fries). The fish was your standard fillet that arrived hot although I was a bit disappointed that it appeared to be a frozen fillet instead of a freshly battered one. Also, the tarter sauce was in those little packets instead of on the side of the plate. I tend to steer clear from tarter sauce that required no refrigeration for years on end.... The greek salad had a lot of feta in in but way too much dressing. My husband enjoyed his meal although he did comment that the baked potato was hard and really tiny for what it was. For desert we ordered a slice of Cherry pie which was really good. I would definitely buy a whole pie to take home again if we are ever in the area.All in all it was decent although nothing to write home about and we probably would not go out of our way to visit this place again. If we do visit again, I will probably order the chicken pot pie which I hear is made from scratch. The one thing that was outstanding was the friendly staff. The waitress was personable, friendly and welcoming.

I've been to this restaurant in the past and had delicious ribs but with a name like Marty Moo's I think I'd have been better to stick with animals that have feet and stay away from the fish. Ordered fish and chips, frozen fish and not very good chips. Next time I'll order the ribs!

After nearly six years I have returned as I happened to be in the area. The service was excellent. Our waitress was warm and friendly and very efficient. We both enjoyed our chicken, rice and vegetable soup but I would not call it a gumbo. No okra in it at all. Very clean environment. We did find the prices a bit high. Steak poutine for $ 19.00. Really?????

I would like to give this place a better review but due to the service, I can't. We were in there on Sat. July 1st., about 10 of us. The place wasn't all that busy and it took quite along time to get our food. I think we were there for close to an hour and a half. The waitress was very nice but I think it is the kitchen that is the problem. Either not enough staff or not big enough kitchen. Not sure which! Still it is good food.

This is a lovely family restaurant that serves a wide variety of BBQ items as well as regular fare. We tried the chicken and rib BBQ with a fresh baked potato on our first trip and enjoyed a fantastic, chicken soup for lunch with chicken wings on our return trip. The bowl of soup was a full meal and surpassed any chicken soup I have ever tasted. The food is all fresh and served hot by extremely friendly staff. The ice cold beer was a pleasant surprise when we got off the road after driving all day.
