The turkey club was very large but very good. Their cranberry aioli was unique and so delicious. I definitely only ate one half and was full. Their fries and fresh and cut thick. They tasted great too. The prices really weren't bad for the amount of food they give. The ambiance is fine. Nothing to rave about or particularly interesting. Either way, I'd certainly eat here again.
The Waterhouse has always been hit or missed with the food. Sometimes the food is on point, and then there are times the food is so overcooked it is awful. My last visit to the Waterhouse will be my last because the food was so overcooked and the service was subpar. I ordered the Prime Rib, which they advise as one of their specialties. I ask for rare but would accept med rare or even medium. The prime rib that came out was well well done, the meat was grey, and it was so overcooked. When I told the server it was overcooked, she said you did not cut into the meat, so how do you know. So to make the server happy, I cut into the meat, and yep, it was dry and overcooked. About 10 minutes later, the server came back and said the piece of prime rib. I was given the rarest piece of meat on the roast. What the heck? Why even ask what temperature you want if you can not accommodate the request. But more importantly of you know the temperature that was requested was not available, why did you not try to stear me in another direction. Dinner with friends was very uncomfortable because I was the only one not eating. The rest of my party enjoyed their meals. The server said she spoke with the manager and they were sorry but the manager never came out to acknowledge a mistake was made. Who knows, maybe the server was just trying to blow smoke up my ass, but if a manager was on duty, they are **** pore and do not care about their customers.
I've been here many times and find excuses to make my way there repeatedly (which is no where near where I live . During my latest visit, I had the Mushroom soup and Fried Green Tomato BLT for lunch. First, the Mushroom soup do yourself a favor and get it. It might be the best soup I've ever had. I wish they sold it by the bucket. This was my first time with the BLT and it was delicious. I'll definitely order it again. It came with fries which were cooked perfectly SO good! I mention this because only a few weeks earlier I was in NYC and had brunch at a high end restaurant by a famous named chef (who I won't and the fries tasted as good as ones from the frozen bag in my freezer. It was nice that Waterhouse could get this so right. I needed to leave at a certain time for a scheduled engagement and the service was impeccable. I wish I could remember the lady's name, but it could be said about all servers and house staff. During all visits, everyone has always been friendly and professional making every experience great. (One of the reasons, besides the food, I keep coming back. Lastly, I tend to visit during quieter times, but can see how it could be loud. I read a review where someone knocked the atmosphere completely. Perhaps they prefer more of a sports bar. I would describe this restaurant as understated elegance. So, it's lovely without being stuffy at all. And it's always nice watching the flowing water from the brook just outside.
Came up for the weekend to ski in crotched mountain. We decided to stay in Peterborough and we are so glad we did! This restaurant is situated in the cutest little strip, there's a pub and a brewery nearby. We came for dinner on a Sunday night and seems like everything closes by 8pm, we had a 730 reservation which we kind of felt bad but the service was amazing! We did not feel rushed at all and our server was extremely accommodating. For appetizers we tried the soup and the fried zucchini which we were so hungry I didn't even get a picture! Everything was delicious, the soup which was mushroom and onions was actually very flavorful and creamy. I personally am not a fan of onions but this soup was amazing. For entres we got the wagyu steak which is served with Brussels sprouts or vegetables. I'm vegetarian but my hubby and my brother in law raved about the raspberry glaze over the steak. Literally they could not stop talking about how good of a compliment it was to the dish. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium. The eggplant was so good! It's served with a tomato and pesto sauce and I finished the entire dish in such a small amount of time. The Brussels sprouts were delicious of course, I think I really liked that they were crunchy and not overly saucy. Now the fried green tomatoes were delicious and crunchy, not overly oily. And they were served with an aioli sauce that was so good! I can't say enough about what a good experience we had at this restaurant. If you're in the area, I suggest you try it out!
