Cecconi - PESCAGLIA

It’s a magnificent special place located in the heart of Tuscany mountains . The food is perfect , and the whole experience is a dream . Strongly recommend this restaurant

For those not afraid to drive up a narrow road rich in hairpin bends, this is a hidden jewel. A family restaurant at the top of a mountain, incredible value for the quality of food. Homemade pasta, wonderful meat, gluten free alternatives, and a spread of Tuscan cut meats which will fill most city dwellers before they get to the pasta. Portions are very generous, and if you order a single portion for two they understand. Their pasta dishes are not to be missed, the walnut, funghi and aromI (herbs) all being outstanding. You can get a platter with a mix to try them all. Their table wine is more than acceptable, and they offer good wines from local producers if you want to spend more. Vegetarians should find plenty to choose from, especially in the pasta dishes. But they love their meat. You will be served by the family, who are not necessarily conversant in English. The menu is in English and after many visits we have always got what we wanted. I would recommend lunch, as this has a breath taking view, and driving back down the mountain is best done in daylight. We have been going there for some years, and it it part of our holiday experience to fit in several meals here. Note family food, very reasonably priced, in a rustic context. Make it an excursion, have a glass of Prosecco first while choosing your food.

Back again for August hols and the first stop from landing at Pisa was straight to Cecconi...as usual the welcoming was marvelous and the food was as all previous holidays, absolutely fantastic!! 6 visits we managed for either lunch, dinner or aperitivi with the mountain views.

Biggest disappointment! We were here few times for dinners and lunches before COVID, the food was good but hostesses were always weirdly unfriendly. But we’ve never in life experienced that rude and unprofessional service as we had in Cecconi’s on 5 September. We as two couples booked a table 3 weeks ago for a Saturday dinner at 18:30. Our friends came earlier and were at the bar area having aperitifs, we came just in time and joined them first at the bar for cocktails. The hostess/waiters approached us 4 times within 15 minutes, each time interrupting our conversation in order to tell that our table is ready and we have to move because it’s only reserved for us till 20:30. So after 4th time we took glasses and moved to the table, which was so tiny for a group of 4, so we asked for a bigger table but they refused even though they had more than few tables free during entire evening. Finally when we just ordered desserts the hostess came again and told that we have to hurry and clean the table because our 2 hours dinner time expired! WTF?!! On top of this extremely poor service the food is just average and definitely not worth the price. The place pretends to be “classic Italian restaurant”. What a shame!
