Casale Del Grillo - PERUGIA

This is a great place to go for dinner with a large group featuring an outside area which is relaxed, informal and very Italian. Most of the food comes from the 140-hectare estate that it sits on and, boy, you can tell the difference. Go...for their antipasto misto (the fresh figs and parma ham alone are to die for), washed down with the house grechetto or sangiovese. Natasha then suggested the mixed grill and the meats were truly fabulous. Even the mixed salad was a meal in its own right. We had three jugs of wine altogether and enough food to feed the group of nine with plenty to spare (which we bagged' for lunch the next day). Add some cake and a bottle of prosecco and the whole bill came to just 30 euros a head. Great food, plenty of it and great value and wonderful service. WE WILL BE BACK! p.s. buy their gorgeous olive oil, 10 euros, enough said!
