Malabar Farm Restaurant - Perrysville

There aren't many dining options in this area, so we decided to try Malabar Farm. The menu looked appealing, but we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. When it finally arrived, my meatloaf came with a fly (included at no extra charge). I didn’t say anything and began eating from the fly-free portion, but I found a significant amount of eggshells mixed in. Overall, the food was disappointing, the servers seemed overwhelmed and forgetful. I wouldn't recommend this place.

This restaurant is exceptional and absolutely worth the drive. The food is incredible, and the staff is very friendly. I tried the penne pasta with shrimp in a mushroom parmesan cream sauce, and it was extraordinary! All the ingredients were perfectly cooked—shrimp, pasta, mushrooms, and sauce—creating a flavorful and delightful meal. The portion sizes were generous. My husband enjoyed the walleye, and he was particularly fond of the sauce. We dined on the deck, which provided a lovely view of the farm and meadows. I highly recommend this place! We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in central Ohio. For those with dietary restrictions, the menu is clearly labeled with information about seafood, gluten, and dairy, making it easy to find options that accommodate allergies and dietary needs.

We were in the area and bypassed another restaurant to eat at Malabar because we had good experiences there previously. Sad to report that something has gone terribly wrong. The Asian salad appeared to have been dressed the previous day. The lettuce was completely wilted. The French onion soup was tasty but the onions in it were huge chunks; no care taken in chopping. Husband’s walleye was over cooked, onion rings were extremely greasy. Broccoli was Ok So sorry to report this,

Enjoyed dinner here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. The crab cakes were delicious, loved the homemade remoulade sauce. French Onion soup was amazing, my filet was cooked perfectly and the crème brûlée was PERFECT which is very difficult to do. Service was decent not exactly a fine dining experience but it could be with a little more attention to detail.

Unfortunately, despite being a remarkable landmark, the food did not live up to expectations. My chicken dish was just average, the mashed potatoes were dry, and the broccoli was hard and cold. Our friends also experienced dry mashed potatoes with their chicken marsala. The lamb was decent, but sadly, mint jelly was not available on the menu. We also noticed flies buzzing around the windows where we were seated. It's a great location, and we hope they improve their food quality.
