This is a unique restaurant, where one goes to eat unique food. I am Italian and used to live around this area, but had never been at this restaurant, which is fairly new. The chef has won several prizes for his pizzas, but you will be disappointed if you went there to eat your regular pizza, the kind you would find everywhere else in Italy, for a lower price and without having to drive up this out of the way little town. But if you want a unique experience, a foodie pizza, made with exceptionally good and local ingredients, then this is your place. The dough is already different from standard pizza: it's thick, not thin. It's a hearty pizza, loaded with stuff, hard to finish even for someone with a good appetite, but it's so delicious! We were a big group, so I got to try different kinds. They were all very good, especially the one with truffle, which I chose. The chef selects the best ingredients, from mozzarella to meats to flours. They all come from the area, and, if they run out, well, you just don't get it. I also got to try the dessert, which were also very good, in particular the tiramisù. All in all, this hard to reach place (don't be discouraged by the narrow road) is worth a trip. You will not find anything like this anywhere else. If you want your standard Margherita, just don't go there. But if you want a pizza you have not, and will not, taste anywhere else, this is the place to go to. Congratulations to the chef!
Il Gatto e la Volpe (the cat and the fox) is one of our local restaurants perched on top of the mountain in the small village of Montevecchio with views in all directions. Over the years we have watched the restaurant develop from serving mostly locals to one that is sought out by expats in the know and tourists alike. Food is well done with some flair and well presented. Oca (goose) is a specialty that requires pre booking for a minimum of 4 people. Pizza standard and gourmet is on the menu too. Need to watch what you spend as the extras do add up.

The unique pizza with flavor of vernelli, had finished the red radicchio, opted for lettuce. I will return x his specialty as soon as before.
