The beef patty was larger than the frozen ones I usually see, featuring a flaky crust and the delightful spices typical of Jamaican cuisine. The ginger beer was a pleasant surprise—definitely the best I’ve had, and it’s imported from Jamaica, unlike many other brands. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my experience at Island Fish and Grits. Just a tip for anyone planning to visit: the menu is based on what’s available at the market, so they often run out of items quickly. Plus, they’re short-staffed, so be sure to call ahead to check what’s on the menu before going.

The food is terrific! But, ordered online through Doordash Storefront...paid. Got to location and they do not have a terminal or the ability to see the order. Instead, I had to reorder but they were also out of what I ordered. I repaid and the item that could be substituted was less than what I paid. Evidently they havent been able to do the online orders for a while. Seems a bit suspect. Call to place orders, the food is worth it as long as you do not end up having to over pay for what you wanted but did not get.

Update: The last two times I ordered from here, my order was missing a plate. I called the restaurant since it was odd this happened twice in a row now. The lady that answered the phone was extremely rude and quickly became defensive when I asked if she could confirm my order. I'm going to leave my comment from my original review because the food is good, I just won't order from here again. Original: I had the mullet and grits and it was amazing. So glad this place is on UberEats or I would never have found it! I will def order again when I’m in town.

Love this place the food is always on point. One of those hidden gem hole in the wall places. I highly recommend the ox tail when its on the menu. The meat is very tender everything seasoned very well. The lady in the kitchen and owner can cook fantastically. The restaurant also got Jamaican ginger soda that's also pretty good on the taste buds.

The fish is delicious and served hot, and the oxtail is excellent—please keep cooking it that way! The curry and stewed chicken are also great. I'm very satisfied!
