Charly's - Pennington Gap

A lovely restaurant to dine at. The food is delicious, the homemade pies are fantastic, and the service is excellent.

The most disappointing part of the meal, aside from the extreme prices, was the cornbread. I received a version made by Charly, which didn't look quite right upon arrival; it resembled a biscuit. When I broke it open, the inside appeared a bit more like cornbread, but the taste was definitely off. It seemed as if flour might have been heavily incorporated into the mix. I later learned that the cornbread I got was unfortunately Charly's, not the kind that was part of the day's special. The waitress asked if any of the other cornbread was available, but sadly, it was all gone. Too bad for me, as it might have improved the otherwise lackluster soup beans.

We stopped by Charley's for lunch. My husband ordered a mushroom burger with fries, while I had the chicken melt sandwich with onion rings. He said his burger was delicious, and my chicken melt was fantastic! The staff were all very friendly, too. It’s a great spot for people watching! We'll definitely be back soon! UPDATE: The waitstaff was very pleasant once again!

One of the best little diners ever. Staff is always super friendly and courteous. The messy sandwiches are a must have if you visit.

The ladies working at Charley?s were very nice and made our order perfect. My mom ordered the mushroom swiss burger and fries. She said it was very good. I had soup beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, and fried pickles. Everything I ordered was delicious.The decor is both classic and cheerful. I loved the old photos of town. I definitely recommend this restaurant!
