Contribuiți la feedbackWe came for a special wine evening with 3 course dinner. We sat outside as it was such a beautiful evening and tried 6 different Merlots and ate a meal prepared by the owner. He spoke about the wines with great knowledge with locals in Spanish then to us in English (how clever is that? People called out how they felt the wine was to them and it was lovely to sit and eat with like minded people who appreciate local food and wine. This is such a completely different place to the usual . All food and drink is sourced within a 50km radius (hence the name Except this evenings Merlots from all over the world. Can 't wait to go again. Thankyou to you and your staff for a fantastic evening.
In a desert of soulless tourist restaurants pedalling sad photos of the same tired tourist staples lies the oasis of Cinquanta. Its name references the fact that almost all of its produce comes from within 50kms of Peñíscola. Its owners obviously understand, love and want to expose the quality that is locally available. If you’re into provenance it is, at the very least, the best food and wine guide to the coast you’re likely to wish for. We came for lunch and (because it was so good) dinner too. We grazed across much of the pintxo menu taking in local artichoke, peppers, truffles, hams, chorizo, anchovies and cheese each beautifully prepared and presented, delicious and next level. We tried mains of marinated raw mackerel, bonito escabeche, ossobuco and lamb. All faultless. The ‘local’ wine list is a revelation take the host’s perfect recommendations. Cinquanta is modest, authentic, passionate and quietly confident. But above all, it has a purpose worthy of attention for anyone interested in real food and where it comes from. None of this comes at a silly price. It offers incredible value for money and leaves you wondering why so many settle for so little for so much at the commercial me too tourist restaurants that dominate Peñíscola.
Cinquanta is centrally located near the old town of Peniscola, and a block from the water. We stopped in for a glass of wine and a tapa prior to going elsewhere for a meal. Well, we enjoyed the wine, atmosphere and tapa so much we ended up staying there and making a meal of some of the many tapas they offer. We appreciated that all of the tapas we tried were not fried (which sets them apart from many of the tapas restaurants). The food was plated like an upscale restaurant (eat with your eyes). The dried tuna with tomato jam, was really tasty. Just about anything you can find on the tapas menu, the ingredients are for sale in the deli. David gets all of his ingredients from within a 50 mile radius of Peniscola. The prices on tapas, wine and beer are excellent. For those nervous English speakers out there, David speaks very good English. Cinquanta is really unique in our experience with tapas in the Peniscola/Alcossebre area. We plan on being regulars there.

Deseando volver.
Volveremos!!!!
