Katekero II - Peniche

Living 50 miles away quite often spend the day neraby and I've been at this place a few times. Food is good, always have fish, either whole or mixed espetada with squid and shrimp.Service is good too. Typical meal with a beer a desert and...cofee will cost around 14 Euro Recomended

I stay a few weeks every year in Peniche and eat out daily and should have read TA reviews before trying this place. The waiter was totally indifferent, forgetting to take up our drink orders and forgetting to bring us a dessert menu when asked...for one (and the place was not busy). We took a steak a la chef, for variety from the seafood and it was more boiled than fried/grilled, served with nothing but French Fries and the meat was tough and of low quality. Not that I expected high quality meat at a seaport, but it wasn't even of average quality. Amazingly, we drove past a Saturday and there was a line of local day-trippers queuing to get in at lunchtime.

There were loads of guests in loads of seafood restaurants, but Katekero II was the only one with a line out the door. We had grilled mackerel and swordfish and octopus a la lagareiro style. The seafood was very fresh, the service was efficient and...friendly, the portions were more than sufficient and the octopus was excellent. If you're looking for a family-friendly seafood restaurant that's competent and reasonably priced, Katekoro II is an excellent choice.

It was missing from the table service and it took a long time for our food to come to the table and the service as a whole. eating itself was not bad.

The pictures of this hotel on the website do not reflect its current condition while it is ending the season, the hotel seems that there is a lot of work on it, space didty, no clothes space required. bathroom shower tiny and outdated, washbasin and toilet...canditally functional. the personal was nice, that is the only positive! breakfast was very bland, not much choice . I will not visit this place again, unless it has a great renovation!
