Contribuiți la feedbackFirst time visiting the Bangor location as it's a little farther for us than their old Pen Argyl location. Great community location with nice seating areas, interesting decor, and merchandise from local businesses available for sale. Friendly staff and not too crowded but a steady stream of what appeared to be regulars coming in, hanging out, comfortable conversation. We had breakfast and coffee. Both good and reasonably priced. Only critique would be it took fairly long for the food preparation and we ended up staying a lot longer than we'd anticipated. But the food was fresh and the atmosphere comfortable so not complaining, just noting we won't plan on a hurried visit when we return, which we plan to. A fun and unique establishment. If this was located in a more urban area it would be packed with a waiting line for Sunday brunch. Be sure to support this local business!
My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place ever since it opened and we finally got our have today. And we did the whole deal: coffee, lunch and dessert. They did not disappoint in any way!! The owners were both there and they are super sweet people!! We started with some blended coffees, Cookies Cream and Heath Mocha. Both were super delicious and rival (if not beat) Starbucks/Dunkin. We shared a bowl of Cream of Broccoli soup, one of their soup of the day (the other was Tomato Basil and I'm sure that's amazing with their grilled cheese special). There was tons of broccoli and it was topped with good cheddar, and had great flavor. I ordered the Turkey Ciabatta and my fiancé ordered the Chicken Panini (then we have each other half) and each sandwich came with plain ridged chips. The Turkey was made with an orange-cranberry ciabatta (of which was out of this world) and had roasted red peppers, spinach and cheese on it. So yummy!!! The Chicken had a fresh pesto and roasted red peppers inside a really good pita-like bread. Nothing negative to say!! And finally, we had to finish with dessert! Pie, of course!! I got the Key Lime and my fiancé got the Pecan. You can get whipped cream on it, but we opted without. The Pecan wasn't too sweet and the crust was very buttery and not too thick. The Key Lime wasn't too tart and had a really good graham cracker crust. The Pecan had a caramel drizzle on the plate and the Key Lime had a lime/citrus drizzle. Some of the best pie I've ever had, hands down. I look forward to trying many more slices! If this place were in a better location, it would thrive! Everyone in the area just needs to come here for fabulous breakfast, lunch and desserts. They even have open mic nights!! Plus, they always have specials through their Facebook page. We will be back very soon!
The only reason I'm reviewing this place is because the nonstop 5 star reviews are ridiculous. It's obvious that these people are desperate for anything even remotely interesting to flourish in their town. Now that would be fine except when people from out of the area venture here based on the reviews, they're going to find out that the food is average at best. No one who's ever been to Jumbars, Mitzi's Table, Blue Sky Cafe, or the Breakfast Table, all in the Lehigh Valley, would ever give this place more than 3 stars. First issue is the decor. It's much darker now than the pics on Yelp and they've installed a lounge with Victorian inspired couches and a giant TV, perhaps to attract the South Park Goth kids crowd. It's working. I get that they're playing on the death theme but there's nothing sophisticated about it. It looks more like a dive bar than a cafe. I'm down with the loose teas in glass jars lining the wall, but the $2 swap meet cd's and dvd's and skeleton hand flower vases not so much. As for the food, we got a breakfast burrito, French toast, and a tuna wrap. For $3-$5 each, they were perfectly fine. But I can't even say they were well priced because they were all so average. The only notable thing about any of the food was the seeded bread for the 2 slices of French toast. I got the self serve coffee which is not refillable so keep that in mind when comparing this to one of the more expensive places I mention above. We skipped the pie based on the food, especially since there were only 3 choices on the board (one of the pics on Yelp showed closer to ten pies on the menu). I will say the pics of their pies here on Yelp are a million times more interesting looking than anything we saw or ate at this place today. I wonder if they were staged for posting? But I didn't see them til I got home. In fact, it's hard to tell they even sell pie here at all. Anyway, if you find yourself starving in Bangor, you could do worse than Pies to Die For, but don't make a special trip. Grab a sandwich at Wegmans Cafe instead.
Great pies here! The blueberry crumb is awesome. They even have hot poes and other food too. The owners are really nice and they gave great suggestions.
Best blueberry pie ever! And amazing Hazelnut coffee on this cold November day. Thank you for the amazing experience
