Fast service which makes it perfect for a quick bite. The portions are very generous. Most dishes are shareable. They have boba teas and a fabulous dessert menu.
My friends and I were in the area looking for something new to try and Hiccups Churroholic looked the most enticing. Immediately walking in, you're hit with an amazing smell of food and spices. We grabbed a few menus and made our orders. One friend ordered the fried rice and the pink flamingo, the other ordered Vietnamese coffee and sriracha fries, I ordered the chamoy mango and zesty orange chicken and rice. Both of my friends were happy with the food and the portions. I had a bite of the sriracha fries and the steak was sooo full of flavor and tender. It reminded me a lot of lomo saltado. My orange chicken could have been spicier, but the flavor was incredible, and very generous portions. And it texture was very crispy, as if it were double fried. The chamoy mango was tangy and sweet, just as I'd want. The inside was very open and clean, with an industrial type of aesthetic. I'd definitely come back to try some of the famous churros!
Hiccups is a California-based teahouse chain founded by Sky Hoang in 2013. Word soon spread about their spicy chicken wings and inventive drinks and by 2018 there were more than a dozen restaurants in operation. This location in Pembroke Pines opened in February of 2022. Hiccups is famous for their crispy popcorn chicken, kimchi fried rice, pad thai, pho, and build-your-own garlic noodle bowls. This location also has a Churroholic, Hiccups' sister sweets shop, where they make beautiful boba teas and looped churros which are dipped in chocolate, cereal, nuts and other toppings and served along with ice cream. The drink menu is large and includes chamoy mangonadas, milk teas, lemonades, smoothies, slushies, and Vietnamese iced coffee. Drinks are customizable with boba, lychee-coconut jelly, and other add-ins. I stopped in to Hiccups for dinner after a visit at nearby Flamingo Gardens. I had missed lunch and was starving. For my meal I ordered the garlic noodles with shaken beef $17.95). The portion was huge with flavorful noodles, crisp vegetables, and tender beef. I loved every bite and had enough to take home for another meal. I am obsessed with boba tea and I wanted one of everything on the menu! I finally decided on the Flamingo Tea which was strawberry and peach flavored green tea. It came with strawberry jelly but I also added the popping strawberry boba. It was such a pretty color and was delicious. Unfortunately I didn't have any room for the over the top churros but I would come back just for dessert. While I really like the menu and everything I ordered the people who work here where not welcoming. A friendly smile and genuine greeting would have made this a 5 star review.
This spot was on my radar for quite awhile and I finally I got a chance to try it out! It's such an interesting mix to offer both Asian foods and churros all in one spot. Looking at the menu, there is a quite a variety of things that caught my eye. I went with the chicken pad Thai and when it arrived as opposed to other peoples food in my party, I was a bit disappointed. I definitely didn't order the best dish at the table. The pad Thai had a decent sauce that wasn't the best, but certainly wasn't the worst pad Thai flavoring I have had. The one detail that ruined it for me is that it severely lacked pad Thai noodles. It felt as if there were more bean sprouts than actual Thai noodles. I also ordered chicken and for some reason there was a mix of tofu throughout that was disguised with the chicken. Maybe the chef was confused between the chicken and the tofu? We may never know. For lunch, it also didn't seem to offer any lunch specials and there weren't different sizing so it was just a one size fits all approach. One dish that did look phenomenal that I wish I ordered was the orange chicken. Next time it would definitely be the choice I will go with so hopefully it's an overall better experience then.
I ordered churros with vanilla ice cream. I wasn't too hungry after eating at the pizza place next door. The churros were fried just right for my liking. They had a sweet flavor that was not overwhelming. I enjoyed the vanilla ice cream even though I am a chocolate fan. The vanilla ice cream went well with the churros. The staff members were friendly and enthusiastic. It is a great place to go for dessert right after that delicious pizza next door. I will come back here for the same sweet treat.
