I?ve always been a die hard fan of the Flowood location. My grandparents and I frequent the Crossgates restaurant and over the last couple of years, the quality has changed immensely. It breaks my heart to dislike any El Sombrero. Maybe the franchise haschanged owners? I don?t know. I do know that the salsa has changed to an overly peppered marinara pasta sauce flavored liquid.Anytime I get steak in any form (tacos al carbon, steak quesadilla, fajita or burrito), the meat is cooked so long that it isliterally crunchy every single time I?m not exaggerating in any way. Lately, the bottom of the plate will have at least 1/4?of grease. Sometimes to go takes forever to be ready when there is only one or two diners eating inside. Also, the older ladybehind the counter when you walk in: she is friendly and never rude?but she stays on her phone and watches Facebook videosloudly which, as you can imagine, gets aggravating when you?ve been standing in the lobby for 15 20 minutes and wonder ifthey?ve forgotten that you?re standing there. When I ask her if everything is alright, she replies a simple yes, says the foodwill be out soon and goes right back to Facebook on her phone.
The food is always served quickly and accurately. The staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. You definitely have to try the Philly steak sandwich and the carnitas tacos—they're delicious!
The food was delightful and arrived quickly. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant!
I visited this restaurant with a large group and was pleased with the service we received. The space was spacious and open, which added to the experience. Our meals arrived hot, and everything went smoothly without any problems. The presentation of the food was impressive. However, I did find the flavors lacking; the dishes were quite bland. I believe this is more reflective of the local clientele's preferences than a fault of the restaurant itself, as many Mexican restaurants in this area tend to serve beautifully presented but mild-tasting food.
