Contribuiți la feedbackMy fiancé and I found this place accidentally when we came to the area for a meeting. It was such a lovely and cosy cafe. Their breakfast dishes are phenomenal and the staff were friendly. I recommend going there if u are ever in the area.
Stopped here today with my husband for a spot of breakfast. Arriving at 0700 we were the only customers who chose to “eat in”. There was a steady stream of “takeaway” business. The restaurant/café is located in what used to be the premises of Coates Hire and the renovations that have been undertaken are suitably “industrial”.We were greeted warmly by the chap behind the counter and found a seat near the entrance of the premises. Menus, bottles of water and glasses, are located at the counter. I opted for a cappuccino and a “Vegie Patch Omelette” (spinach, mushroom, red onion, sundried tomato, mozzarella and parmesan cheese) while my husband selected the Bircher Muesli and a vanilla milkshake. Food and drinks are ordered at the counter. Clients are given a number to take back to their table and the food and drinks are delivered to the table. Breakfast took about twenty minutes to be served; the drinks a little longer. My omelette was served on a wooden “chopping board” (I miss plates). It was warm and tasty and I would be happy to order it again if dining at a Charlie Lovett’s. The generous portion of Bircher Muesli was topped with sliced bananas, strawberries and flaked almonds and was delicious, however it was served without a spoon so it was back to the counter to ask for one. (See below for further comments about cutlery.)The drinks were an entirely different affair. My cappuccino was more of a caffé latte and was very strong while my husband’s milkshake was tasty but of the wrong consistency; ie, it wasn’t thick enough. The premises is wheelchair accessible, however needs to be better lit. The toilets (also wheelchair accessible via a ramp) are outside however to get to them one must negotiate the fug of the “smoking area”. There are both “male” and “female” toilets as well as a large disabled facility – all of which were clean but woefully lit. Cutlery is stored, in bulk and in large metal containers, at your table. I would prefer cutlery to be delivered to the table with the meals – while no “germ freak” (a little dirt never hurt anyone) I believe keeping cutlery at the table in this matter to be unhygienic as it virtually impossible to get your cutlery out of the container without touching the other utensils. Owing to the interior design, lack of soft furnishings and volume of music (which was OK when we were here for breakfast), I think the venue has the potential to be extremely noisy. There is plenty of space between the tables, however all the tables appear to seat between four and six people (sometimes more). Solo diners wanting to enjoy meal at peak times may find themselves having to cope with the dreaded “communal table”. Prior to our leaving, the young man who made our drinks came up and asked us what we had thought of them. We gave the chap our feedback and he seemed to take it on board – explaining that he had only been in the job two weeks and always tried to take the time to ask customers what they thought of the drinks he had made so he could improve anything that was amiss. The young man’s attitude is commendable. There is also facility for outdoor dining however if sitting outside and a car reverses into the adjacent parking space you are likely to get a face full of exhaust fumes. The outdoor dining furniture I saw looked very shabby. Was this venue OK? Yes. Is it at the top of my list of “go to” local cafes? No. Would I go back? Yes (one day)
Went here with my 90 year old father in law. Easy access. Arrived about 9.00 am and ordered coffee, tea, bacon lettuce and tomato toasted sandwich and raisin toast. Waited nearly 40 minutes for food arrived which although tasty was cold. coffee had arrived 10 minutes before so I suspect it had been sitting on the service area for 10 minutes. Sat in a sunny area ( at 9.00am ) and was told along with two other tables (18 seats) when food delivered that we would have to be out by 11am as the tables were reserved. Paper with reserved were found blown off the table and on the floor. Father in law said ' We would have left earlier but we didn't get out tucker" Why reserve 18 seats two hours ahead of time in a prime position? It is a converted garage not a fine dining restaurant with views. Wont go back in a hurry. Don't know if it was just a one off staff shortage or just cutting back on staff.
Coffee is Okay, the service is fine, but the place needs to be cleaned more thoroughly. The custard in our strawberry tart had gone off, and, as it looked freshly made could only put it down to poor housekeeping. I gave this place a second and third chance but but the tart was the last straw. don't expect us back.
