My wife and I have eaten here twice. The first time was just a pass-by, and we ordered Sopa Tarasca, which is a typical dish of our area. It was one of the best versions we've tasted. A few days later, we visited again to eat a full meal. The young chef/owner is an instructor at a local cooking school. FYI. Looking at the menu, which is not overly ambitious, a good thing, there are accompanying photos. To look at them, you'd think this is one of those hoity-toity restaurants that place little dabs of food in the middle of the plate and call it haute cuisine. That's how the photos looked. It was pretty, those plates, I'll give it that. Imagine my surprise when the dishes arrived, and they actually had a quantity of food, and good food at that. It included what you saw in the photo and more, literally more, dishes not shown on the menu, and it was all delicious.I had the arrachera, a beef dish, and my wife ordered the chicken. We both had Sopa Tarasca too, and it was even better than the first, brief visit. The restaurant is on the second floor of an ancient Colonial building a half block off the main plaza of Patzcuaro. It takes up several rooms that are nicely appointed.(Here is one complaint, not a fatal one: The restrooms are clean, and the sink, john, etc., appear new. However, Remedio falls victim to an attitude very common in Mexico, and it's even a worse sin in a place that has elegant airs. There was no light in the men's room, though there was a light bulb. There was no visible switch. There was no towel, no toilet paper, no soap, and the john would not flush. This really needs to be corrected. The restaurant is brand new at this writing, and perhaps they've not gotten around to it, but they should have gotten around to it.)But the food was fine. Highly recommended.
Gran lugar. Tranquilo y divertido.
