Had lunch here today and really appreciated the friendliness and good food we found. The vegetable soup was Pea soup, my father feels the best he ever had. The roasted chicken and fresh pasta was very good. Nice sirloin and wine good. Dessert excellent. Good quality, good service!
We ate here because we had little choice in the area, and we had been out all day.It looked busy with locals (usually a good sign) and so we went in.Table of two, smack next to a table of 8, and squeezed into a corner.Menu was ok, if you liked frites, which we do but not with our ice cream or coffee.Mrs P ordered a medium rare rump, which came medium and, judging by the toughness it still had the hide on it!My chicken, with frites, came half burnt & half raw, Quite the skill and not one that English chefs seem to know, choosing to either burn it entirely or keep it completely undercooked. To do both is incredible. It went back and came back overcooked, which was the same as Mrs P's steak so at least neither of us got preferential service. Looking around at the busy tables adjacent, we surmised that they must have a coach party in from a nearby convalescent hospital for people recovering from tongue removal surgery. How we envied them as we were able to taste our food.Would I go back? Only after Tongue Removal Surgery.
