Contribuiți la feedbackIt's definitely a pub. But the food was great and the service was excellent. So Canadians so kind. Very honest with recommendations.
We were here last night and our bank card was cloned here (it wasn't used elsewhere prior to). Be aware ! We got a call from the bank today with some dodgy movements from the US. Thankfully the bank blocked the card as the movements were too weird. On another note, toilets were malfunctioning and the poutine too greasy. Better options in Paris for sure. Next time we won't be lazy to enter on the first bar.
Pub classico, boa seleção de cervejas, embora variedade apenas razoável. Muitos estrangeiros, e petiscos calóricos para acompanhar. Serviço simpático e eficiente
Image my surprise, when I was soooo looking forward to a frosty pint at my favorite Irish pub; the James Joyce, only to find that pub no longer exists...Although not much had changed except the name and exterior paint, the inside looked pretty much the same so we had hope. No offense to my northern cousins but the Canadian Embassy just doesn't have the same feel as The Ol' Jay. We stopped by around 1pm and were the only three customers there. Female bartender did not seem eager to help us. She had no knowledge of the beers and whisky advertised. After serving us, she went to the far end of bar and stayed there scrolling through her phone. She only came back because we asked her for refills. We asked about food and she stated the kitchen was closed till 3pm. After we finished our second beers we left. We definitely didn't feel the Irish hospitality of before.
After 5 days traveling in France and being disappointed by the lack of good beer to be had, my husband googled "places to drink beer in Paris" and the Canadian Embassy popped up. It was quite close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was an English style pub with American style bar menu. There was good beer, sports on the telly, and the bartenders/waiters were friendly and social. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy eating French food and drinking French wine and spirits, but I am primarily a beer and whisky drinker, and not much tops a pint and a game of footy in a pub! In addition to the normal bar food, the Canadian Embassy showcases that wonderful French- Canadian concoction known as Poutine, and offers a "poutine of the day." Relatively inexpensive food and a decent price on good beer and good whisky. It was the perfect respite in the middle of our eight day journey through France.
