Refinery Eatery Kapiti - Paraparaumu

Easy to book, seated promptly, service a bit slow bit busy with a big birthday group, table sticky to touch, entree was ok but not what's on menu. Mains came out luke warm (fish colder than the salad) and other order came with sauces/dressings after explicit request of no dressing or sauces. Waitress initially tried to deny it was dressing/sauce then apologized for kitchen stuff up but made no offer to put it right. Left to have after dinner drinks and dessert elsewhere. Poor form and kinda darkened our night out for wife's birthday. Wouldn't recommend

The dinner I had here was pretty bad on a few counts food took over 45 minutes to arrive (despite me being one of very few patrons), and it was extremely poor quality given the high prices being charged. Staff were lovely but not enough to redeem the experience.

For the price I paid, I expected food that is made in house. I was really dissatisfied when I a frozen reconstituted chicken chicken patty when I ordered a char grilled chicken breast. This is $30 on their menu

We booked using their on line email a few days prior to dining. We did not get confirmation so phoned them up. They told us we had not booked. Then we got a call later to say they had found the email. We confirmed that we would be using a restaurant association voucher to pay and that there would be five of us not four. When we arrived they went to place us at a four seat setting down the restaurant end and then proceeded to tell us that we had to move down to the bar end to eat because they could not accommodate us. The food was sub standard and then when we went to pay using the voucher they basically argued and were not going to accept it. In the end they did but it was one of those ones where they gave no change if using a voucher.

Dropped by early evening on the off chance and were made more than welcome. Dinner was build your own steak which was cooked exactly how we wanted it. Enjoyable dinner and table service was excellent
