Jakarta Taste Of Java

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. The food is Indonesian and quite delicious.

It's a moderately nice place. The food is not that great to be honest, BUT its not bad. The interior is nice and cozy, but not big. And one thing that's very annoying is the waiting time for your food. It takes at least 30-40 minutes before you get your food. Their portion sizes are nice and enough for 2 people almost. The prices are also moderate. Not super expensive. And sometimes its like all their dishes have the same taste.

Where to begin… I was watching several Youtube Foody videos in preparation of our holiday in Surinam and came across this restaurant. Once entered, we were welcomed by the overall friendly staff, wearing stewardess outfits…. This was very strange for me, but paid it no mind. We were moved around a little bit because apparently they do not have a waiting room for customers that would like to order food to take out. Secondly, we received the menu….The menu was printed on simple wrinkled A4 paper (non-plasticized). It was a very amateurish menu for a upscale restaurant (at least, that is how they position themselves). We ordered some baka banas, spring rolls and sate’s and the famous Javanese dawet drink. We received the dawet drink which was very watery (it has to be a bit thick). That was the third disappointment. We finally got our food and opened it in when arriving at our destination. The food lacked so much taste and you could tell that it was prepared with very watery marinades (which was most likely diluted with water in order to save costs). The peanut sauce was also very, very, very watery (also diluted). I was very very, very disappointed, especially because we paid TOP dollar for this food. The restaurant was also all over the place with respect to the decorations (please see my remark w.r.t. to the stewardess outfits of the waitresses). The decorations had nothing or little to do with Jakarta (city in Indonesia), for example, there were pictures of Elvis Presley hanging all over the place LoL. In short, we had a very bad experience and will never, never, never come back.

This restaurant is a fantastic spot for enjoying a delicious meal and engaging conversation. The noodles and chicken were exceptional, and the peanut sauce was uniquely delicious. This place is definitely worth keeping in mind for future visits.

The atmosphere is pleasant and the food is delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
