Rio Bravo - PAONIA

As for the food, it was very disappointing. I ordered veggie enchiladas, which were described as containing mixed vegetables. When I inquired about the specific vegetables, the server mentioned green and red peppers, but what I received were frozen mixed vegetables—peas, carrots, and corn. Really? My dining companion ordered chicken tacos, but the chicken was dry and unappetizing. There was absolutely no flavor in the food, and considering the owners are supposedly from Mexico, this was incredibly disappointing. I now have concerns about food safety and even health risks like Hepatitis C. The health department should definitely look into this place.

Wow! This place is amazing! They served up some incredibly delicious, authentic chips and salsa—none of that Pace Picante stuff! The service was great, but let me tell you about the food! It was an outstanding authentic Mexican restaurant. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. On this visit, I had a house margarita on the rocks with salt and tacos al pastor. Mmmmm! I really loved it!

I visited for lunch in Paonia and found a great lunch special on the menu. The food was quite good. There was only one server, which did slow things down a bit, but it was still perfectly acceptable for a small mountain town.

I went for a ride and stumbled upon Rio Bravo, a Mexican restaurant that was fantastic. Shenandoah was incredibly polite, friendly, and knowledgeable, sharing information about the area. The restaurant was also very clean. The food was outstanding—my husband ordered a taco salad, and I chose a shrimp salad. Both dishes were delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience!

The food was enjoyable overall. I would rate it higher, but the salsa served with the chips was the worst I’ve ever tasted. It basically tasted like seasoned tomato juice with maybe 5% vegetables mixed in. The main courses we ordered were good, but the portions were quite small compared to what I've experienced at other Mexican restaurants recently. The prices were also on the higher side. On a positive note, the service and atmosphere were both excellent. I would consider dining here again, but I might just bring my own salsa, lol!
