Food was good. Host was kind and helpful. Waiter was unfriendly and borderline rude. Make sure to have a reservation before 7pm and if after then prepare to wait. Of all the restaurants we went to this was my least favorite but that said, it was still good and I can see why people like it.
A lively spot recommended by several locals as the best Panamanian food. it did not disappoint. We did not have reservations but were seated promptly on arrival around 7:00pm. It's fairly noisy inside, but the food was wonderful. We are not really keen on octopus or some of the other seafood, but I had the Sea bass on a plantain leaf and my wife had the breaded chicken. The sea bass was fantastic, a whole fish, served with a wonderful curry sauce on the side. It was delicous. My wife really enjoyed her large portion of chicken and it did look good, moist and properly cooked.
What a great place for dinner. It’s fairly casual with great service and very good food. The cassava tostada with tune was my favorite dish. So tasty and fresh. My husband loved the fried chicken which is not like any fried chicken I’ve had previously. I didn’t like the mashed potatoes. They were much too creamy for my taste. I enjoyed the crispy pork belly guacho which was very flavorful. It’s not a huge portion, but it was filling.
My wife and I walked 5 minutes on a Sunday night to the restaurant from our nearby hotel arriving at 6:45 pm. Big mistake. There were 11 parties ahead of us. We waited 90 minutes in the bar, which had loud music with earth shattering deep bass (the kind that goes through your internal organs) pounding nonstop. I had to go out into the street some of the time. We realized one of us should have walked over there an hour earlier and got our names on the wait list. You need to plan ahead if you want to get into this place. Anyway finally we got a table in the restaurant. Service at first was was good. I ordered the signature toasted cassava with tuna carpaccio which was amazing and delicious never had anything quite like it before. My wife had the fried chicken with mashed potato which was also very tasty. Then time to order dessert. Only two choices, one of which (the flan) was sold out, much to my wife’s disappointment. I ordered the other choice, shaved ice (raspao) with blackberry sauce. Waited 20 minutes, no dessert. It turned out the waitress had misunderstood and thought neither of us wanted dessert. Re ordered my dessert. Waited another 20 minutes. Finally complained, and the dessert came in 2 seconds. Weird. Anyway the dessert was delicious! But hardly worth the wait. By this time it was nearly 10 pm and we were glad to get out of there. Bottom line, the food was amazing and lived up to its reputation, but the service was uneven and the overall experience was challenging. Full disclosure, we are a couple in our seventies and all the other customers were less than half our age and all seemed to be having a wonderful time and not bothered by anything. So you may enjoy yourself if you plan ahead. However there are lots of other nice restaurants in the area that are less hassle.
