The Wine Room - Palo Alto

I visited this restaurant with friends to enjoy some wine, but unfortunately, we had a very rude waiter. He was a South Asian gentleman in his 30s or 40s. When I asked for a wine recommendation, he mockingly ridiculed me for not knowing much about wine, and he did so in a very arrogant and disrespectful manner. After he left our table, my friends questioned why I tolerated such behavior. I try to be courteous to everyone, but this server clearly didn’t reciprocate. I hope the restaurant owner or manager takes note of this situation.

The experience was terrible. The waitstaff barely attended to our table. We received the wrong wine and were charged for the most expensive bottle. Although we didn’t say anything at first, we decided not to leave a tip. Surprisingly, the waiter then approached us to ask why we hadn’t tipped! When we explained our reasons, he offered to clear our table and slammed the plates down in a rude manner. We will definitely not be returning.

Very bad service. As a tourist I was pretty shocked and disheartened. Was ignored for a very long time when we came in (we were not seated or greeted even) and when we got the attention of a waiter, finally, he questioned my order for whatever reason our waiter gave us attitude for it. We came in twice the same night as we thought the bad service was because it was busy the second time we came (less busy) we realised the bad service was because the waiters were hanging with their selected customers and ignoring anyone else coming in that didn’t suit their taste it seems.

I’ve been regular customer for the past year. Definitely recommend! They will help guide you as to what you like. Exceptional service! Especially Eddie and David! Will continue being back and recommending! Thank you!

Had a wonderful time on a busy Friday evening thanks to sommelier Eddie! He also gave us fantastic recommendations for our winery tour in Livermore the next day. Can't wait to go back to The Wine Room!
