Barbacoa Santiago - PALMILLAS

The best way to travel. A few hours drive from Mexico City and go to this highway restaurant for really good Lamb BBQ. Order fried beans and guacamole and mount so many regular or blue maize tortillas to make big tacos. I counted 8 women who make tortillas so you know it's fresh.

We stayed here on the way to San Miguel Allende... what a great idea. The Barbacoa is delicious, the ambience is very casual and food is not so expensive. I'll go back infinity when I'm over.

Dont be confuse, in Mexico Barbacoa its not BBQ, Barbacoa its a coocking technique like a ground level oven, that covers the food with maguey leaves (brother of the agave i guess) but you end up with a tender meat. This place its huge! And its really good, the service its food too. Intotally recomend it

Traditional Mexican environment with families enjoying Barbacoa (Lamb). Meat was tender without fat. Lots of salsas. Great variety of natural juices. To finish, a traditional 'Cafe de Olla '.
