Le Gecko - Palavas-les-Flots

We arrived and had a selection of tapas of which for the most part the was not the greatest. We made the waitress (who was very friendly) aware that one part was inedible seemed like it was from a can and really horrid, which it was and the manager responded to her and told us that if we wanted something more in place of this we would need to pay. This was not what we wanted but the response in reaction to which was bad food in the first place made me compose this review. Nice bread through.

We went following the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. It was fine, with some of the tapas going down well e.g. the chorizo and the mozzarella/tomato. But the Gecko doesn’t do hot Tapas, just dishing out pre-prepared cold morsels when hot fare would be much better for some dishes (e.g. mussels). And for what you get, it’s not cheap either. OK for snacks, but not so good as a meal.

Short visit to Montpellier last week with the weather very hot we found this fantastic Tapas Bar just a short walk from the beach at Palavas de Flots. We were greeted by the owner who was the perfect host. The draft beer was excellent on one of the hottest days of the year. We ordered a selection of Tapas which were a welcome change from the food we had experienced over the previous few days. Highly recommended at any time of the day.

Greeted with a friendly smile,the food was delicious with prompt service.The owner was interested to know where we came from and spared a few minutes to chat. Lovely location with brilliant ambience.. Minutes from the beach. I am sure we will be returning again soon.

We have lived in this area for sometime, but never got round to visiting Palavas. Today we decided to spend the morning at the beach before taking a walk around the town. Just yards from the beach we came across this Tapas bar within a small delightful square. First we were going to stop for just a coffee and within seconds we were made to feel very welcome and soon found ourselves relaxing watching the world go by. So after looking at the Menu we ordered a special of 5 dishes which was excellent and full of taste. The atmosphere was lovely. The host spoke many languages and the service was brilliant. We will be returning again.
