Thai Dan Sai - Pajala Sverige

While driving from Kiruna to Finland, I stopped in Pajala and found this restaurant on TripAdvisor to have lunch. I was initially disappointed that I couldn't order from the menu because it was lunch buffet time, but the food at the buffet was delicious. As someone who only eats gluten-free food, I was pleased to see a few options available. 5 out of 5 stars, thank you!

After indulging in Christmas food for days, dining at this restaurant was a real delight. The lunch buffet featured a variety of dishes including pad thai, yellow beef curry, chicken satay, and breaded fish fillets, served with both rice and noodles. And all of this for only 80 kr! This has to be one of the top Thai restaurants I've discovered in Northern Sweden and Finland.

I discovered this hidden gem of a Thai restaurant by chance while traveling through the Arctic Circle and Northern Sweden with my two daughters in 2015. In the small town of Pajala, we found Thai Dan Sai after receiving a recommendation from locals at the cultural center. Despite the unimpressive appearance of the restaurant, the food completely blew us away. As New Yorkers used to great food, we were amazed by the light, flavorful, and fresh dishes served to us. The owner, whose Thai wife ran the kitchen, was a pleasure to chat with and we left with a newfound appreciation for Northern Swedish cuisine. I highly recommend making the trip to this tiny town just to experience the amazing food at Thai Dan Sai. It truly is the best Thai food we have ever had, outside of Thailand of course. 6 stars. BEST. THAI. EVER.
