Contribuiți la feedbackThis is definitely the best vegan menu I have come across at a non-vegan restaurant in Torbay. I tried the fish and chips, made with banana blossom, and was pleasantly surprised by how fishy it tasted. My partner had the tikka masala which we both enjoyed. We were too full to try any desserts, but they sounded delicious as well.
We had a great experience at the St Austell brewery pub, located in a beautiful spot right on the harbor with plenty of outdoor seating. One thing that stood out to us was the vegan option on the kids menu - vegan Quorn sausages - which was a rare find and saved us from having to buy expensive adult meals for our vegan daughter. The main lunch menu also had a couple of clearly marked vegan options, such as banana blossom "fish" and chips, and roasted cauliflower and hummus flatbread. I decided to try the banana blossom fish and chips, which came with mushy peas and tartar sauce, and it was excellent. Overall, we had a lovely meal at this pub.
The smoky tofu noodles are incredibly tasty. I especially enjoy the banana blossom when I'm in the mood for some fried food.
Lovely setting on the harbour upstairs dining area has views over the harbour one side and beach the other. Not a huge range of choice, but what they did offer was done well and a little different eg falafel wrap was made with beetroot falafel, tasty roasted pepper soup, and the desserts were outstanding. The vanilla pod Cheesecake was incredibly creamy, while the poached pineapple was really unusual. Updated from previous review on 2021 10 02
Vegan options are clearly marked and appear to be well though out rather than just a token vegan burger thrown on the menu. I had the vegan fish and chips made from banana blossom. Tartare sauce was really good, I have come to the conclusion that I just don’t like banana blossom so no reflection on HL.
