The restaurant is located within a sports facility ( tennis courts and swimming pool) in an area, Holy Family neighborhood, very well served by public transport and roads. Easily accessible, the place is not very large, welcoming and familiar. The manager, Mr. Gigione, is peaceful and round (from here the nickname). The specialties are the appetizers and the first dishes, all strictly of the excellent Apulian cuisine. When you tasted them all, you're no longer hungry for second dishes! !
Yesterday evening with two friends, I had dinner at Gigione; we were looking for a quiet place, outdoors, unpretentious and we found it! The wife strongly advised us to take the mixed appetizer however without pointing to us anything else, suggesting us expressly “trust us”, we did it and we were satisfied! Different, beautiful and fragrant tastes, very good, mozzarella and basil, fritturina, mussels, aubergines with parmigiana, prawns with melon and rocket, gratinate anchovies...; then we continued with 1 dish of good ears with tomato, burrata and basil and 2 portions of tasty salt branzino. To accompany the dinner 1 discreet liter of prosecco and 1⁄2 of red wine both not in bottle, but of the house. The surprise came to the end, with the account! Well 140 euros, that is 47 euros per head!!! Now, the food was certainly of quality, but a CIFRA of the genus for 3 appetizers 16 euros the one, a first 10 euros and 2 seconds of fish to the salt 60 euros, without dessert, coffee and nothing else, on which can not have engraved the scarred wine, with a service of bettola, in a field and not a garden, adjacent to a local that is not because it is not in masonry, With similar sum we often dine in “veri” restaurants of the Riviera del Brenta, with names and known traditions, with impeccable service and in a beautiful context. It is a shame to note that the excellent Apulian products of which I am a connoisseur and estimator that in the place of origin they are sold at low prices, are "exported" increased exponentially by the same "Apulian writers". The very unfortunate thing was, however, that when we very politely pointed out all this to the owners, on the other hand, another client at the head of a table, was already doing the devil four for the same reasons, the same, far from wanting to listen to what we had to say, let alone propose any settlement were very rude and even surprised that we were complaining! Only at that moment did they draw out the list not exposed, nor delivered at the time of order, claiming poorly that quality fish is paid! .... I think it's the sauce ear, too. Wasn't the client always right???? Well he did the other unfair advent, to leave in payment only what he considered congruous; regarding us, we will not stand back!
The menu is really very well-kept for food. The food and the assortment is of true cuisine of Ostuni, however verified with people of Ostuni who for many years live in Padua. The staff is very friendly and the prices are acceptable. On average for a good meal you spend 30-40 €.
Evening between colleagues, want a quiet place and eat something different. This place is perfect! Simple and unpretentious, you eat outdoors under the branches of the trees (if the weather is clémente) and the service is fresh and kind. Apulian cuisine, also this without particular refinements, but real and pleasant, simple and decisive tastes with some chicche as a triptych of mozzarella, burrata and really wonderful stracciatella. We enjoyed a mixture of appetizers, almost to tapas ways including a tasty parmigiana of eggplants and the triptych mentioned above. We continued with a first bis: cavatelli with tomatoes and mussels and cutters with burrata, tomato and basil, all exquisite.
