Mezzaluna Pasteria Mozzarella

Mezzaluna always looks so crowded whenever we walk by, so we decided to try it for the first time! The staff was very accommodating; we did not have a reservation but they were able to seat us outside. They have blankets and heaters outside so it wasn't too cold. The food was great and we'd come back again. Drinks (5/5): the amaretto sour was light and sweet; the Negroni was stronger and had a good fruity aftertaste. Starter bread (4/5): not mind blowing but still pretty good. I liked the olive oil sauce that came with it. Octopus (3/5): the orange sauce that came with it was good. I wouldn't order it again because it is kind of pricey for what you get and the octopus meat was hard to chew. Spaghetti carbonara (4/5): very creamy and delicious with a good amount of meat Rigatoni (5/5): I can see why this is the most popular dish. It has a stronger and more memorable taste compared to the spaghetti carbonara. Flourless chocolate cake (2/5): the chocolate cake was too bitter and I think there should've been more ice cream to eat along with the cake. But the presentation was good.

The pasta was cooked very nicely and had good texture, but throughout the meal all of the dishes were too salty. We ordered the lamb meatballs, clam chowder, pappardelle, and ravioli di manzi. The food would have been very good if they had reduced the salt by half maybe at least a third. I kept drinking water throughout the meal as we didn't want to waste the food. The staff though was very friendly!

Fantastic fresh pasta. Rigatonis alla Buctera is where it's at. Honestly the mozzarellas were OK but the pastas a made up for it.

Sadly I'm very disappointed with Mezzaluna. I have been going here once a month for a while now to get my favorite dish and see their amazing bartender, Alex. I witnessed a very upsetting scene caused by their owner, who was belittling and intimidating the hard working staff. I have never had an issue at Mezzaluna's, great food and service, only the owners power trip and taking it out on the most amazing people. I refuse to support the mean behavior I witnessed and will not be returning :
