As a result, the wait times can be quite long, which brings me to our experience on Friday night. We were a party of nine, so we anticipated some added wait time. We put our names down at 7:15 PM and were told the wait would be between 45 and 75 minutes. This was somewhat expected, and for the first 75 minutes, we enjoyed ourselves while waiting to be seated. We checked in a few times, and around the one-hour mark, they informed us it would be just 10 more minutes. After another 15 minutes, we inquired again and were told it would be another 5 minutes. However, we then watched another group of seven get seated before us, despite being told we were next. In the end, our wait totaled 95 minutes. I understand it was a Friday night and we were a large group, but I always find it frustrating when wait times are underestimated. On a positive note, they comped our first round of beers, which was a great gesture—thank you, Pelican! The food was delicious, and the Tsunami burger with fries really hit the spot. The takeaway from this experience is that Pelican is a very popular destination. If you're visiting with a group, be prepared for a wait. However, it’s always a good time, so I’d say it's well worth it.
Stunning views, decent beer, and food that's good but a bit pricey. Like many other reviewers, that's my experience at Pelican Brewing. On this visit, I enjoyed happy hour, which is a real highlight—if I could only come here for happy hour, it would easily earn a 5-star rating. The happy hour menu offers solid choices, including a brewpub cheeseburger, $2 oyster shooters, a $7 fish and chips, and salads for $4-5. However, the standout for me is the $5 pints. The service has consistently been friendly as well. And a tip for those concerned about the bathrooms: if you're struggling to explain an all-gender bathroom to your child, just use your common sense and say it’s like the bathroom at home.
Excellent food with an incredible view! I ordered the locally made bratwurst, which came with bacon sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. It was an amazing and delicious dish! The sauerkraut was not too salty and had a fantastic flavor. The bratwurst was well-balanced and truly delightful. The oyster shots were fresh, clean, and superb! The burger was also very tasty. I enjoyed two glasses of their homemade root beer—it was definitely worth it! While the service could use some improvement, my overall experience was very positive.
I recently visited Pelican Brewing with a large group, including kids, and had a fantastic experience. The food was top-notch and very flavorful. We were placed in what I can only call the family room, which was bustling with other families. While the room was a bit loud, it was perfect for the kids. The server was amazing, and we all had a great time. The family room leads directly to the beach, so while waiting for our food, we could take the kids out for a few minutes. One thing to note is that they do not take reservations, so we had a few people arrive early to put our name on the waitlist. We were seated within 15 minutes, but this was early May (low season), so plan accordingly. Overall, I highly recommend Pelican Brewing and look forward to returning.
The views alone from this brew spot make it worthy of stopping by for a pint! From almost any seat you can see the coast and sites of cape Kiwanda. I went with the fried cod and chips with coleslaw. It came out super quick and tasted really fresh. The small portion of the cod for nearly $25 was the only downfall. The fries were hot and plentiful. We also tried the marion berry dessert which was small but very rich so you only needed a few bites. Would stop by again for friendly staff, brews, and views!
