A great place to stop for breakfast is BG’s Café in downtown Oxnard, CA. It has been a favorite among locals since 1971. Current owners, Jose Rodriguez and Veronica Munoz, have been keeping BG’s Café’s spirit alive since 2003. BG Café’s salsa won “Best Red” and “Best Mild” categories at the Oxnard Salsa Festival last year and have won in previous years as well. Located on A Street, it is very easy to find. Just follow the aroma of coffee, eggs, and bacon and you’ll find a cluster of cars parked right in front since it is the only business open this early on the weekends. The interior is a little dated, but it works by giving the restaurant character since it is 45 years old this year. The service is friendly, courteous, and attentive. Veronica works the front of the house and Jose works the back. Their combined efforts display their hard work, service, and fantastic food coming out of the window.
Great food but........ We love the food and the owner and her staff, but the wait time for the food to arrive is really bad for people on the move. Really great atmosphere.
Good and tasty breakfast and lunch menu. Wait staff is very friendly and owner Veronica is usually on hand. It is where the locals eat and friends gather.
I've gone to BG's Cafe 2 weeks in a row on my day off. It has a great atmosphere, excellent service, and awesome food. The first time I went I got the tri-tip and eggs, hash browns, and a side of biscuits and gravy. It came to the table fast and everything was delicious. This week I got the country fried steak and eggs, with the same biscuits and gravy. This is gonna be my day off breakfast spot. I don't know my waitresses name but, she was great too. Thanks for a delicious breakfast!!!! Another great breakfast at BG's had the sausage and eggs and of course my biscuits and gravy
Came here for the breakfast and was surprised at how good the food is! Bgs is an old diner that has stood the rest of time having just celebrated 50 years of service. The customer service was great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I will say that the place looks like it can do with a bit of a remodel as it looks a bit old. But I go for the food so I can live with it haha
