5-1 Diner - Oxford

This place was fantastic. It was a short waiting time and it was worth it. I had breakfast Burrito and it was excellent. Warm fluffy eggs, crispy tortilla peel, it was honest mouthwater. It is a good place to get a fast, cheap bite and it is always delicious. The atmosphere is also very soothing. In any case come back here

Actually, my meal wasn't the best. The steak sandwich with fries for the take-out and it didn't turn out how I expected. The tomatoes sucked the sandwich bread that fell apart when I tried to use my canines for every bite because the meat is hard and good. The salad contributed very little and the sandwich left me with an acidic pine/empty stomach. I called the restaurant before I leave a review and the owner was more than happy to make things right. After this experience I decided to give him another step before the post and while the staff was extremely understanding, ready to do their best to avoid another unpleasant experience, it was conclusive that the steak sandwich is simply not right, at least for me. Not my own opinion about what should be done to bring glory to the sandwich that I have fought twice now, both end up in a draw, I thought constructive criticism could not hurt, so why not give some at all. The number one I would recommend to be done is to cut the steak against the grain before it on the sandwich. If you have ever tried to eat a steak without utensils, but rather only the teeth in your mouth you will soon recognize his game of Tug-of-war. Add a bun that is slightly more roasted, otherwise not create a better barrier from the tomato juices that look into its pores and you have something that will not decompose like the sands of time. The pommes were delicious and their omelets are dying, 4 stars would definitely recommend getting breakfast here!

Whenever I'm in Oxford, I'll stick to this wonderful diner. I enjoy the extensive menu. Many options and people are very friendly. And it's right on the main road. Good value, good food and good people. My recipe for good experience.

Food is at same high standard as pre-pandemic. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff even though short-staffed like every place. Take time for relaxed meal at the new post-pandemic pace. Glad to be back 5-1 Diner in mid-town Oxford.
