Contribuiți la feedbackOverpriced and disappointing. While the restaurant offers unique activities like lino cutting and life drawing, the food and service were lacking. I ordered quiche and salad for £10, only to receive a tiny slice of quiche and some watercress on a small plate. After bringing this to the attention of the staff, they reluctantly brought me some lettuce leaves and another slice of quiche. The service was indifferent and lacked empathy towards the customer. The fixtures in the restaurant were also subpar, with unstable tables and poor wifi signal. Overall, a pretentious and overpriced experience that left much to be desired.
The homebaked breakfast at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, served in a cozy garden setting with a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is friendly and there is nice background music playing. I definitely hope to visit again in the future.
I have enjoyed several brunches at this restaurant. The interior is cozy and small, but the back garden is absolutely stunning and perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal on a sunny day. There is a counter where you can order while admiring the delicious selection of cakes and other treats. The seating options range from small tables for couples to long tables for larger groups, and there is ample shade in the garden to suit everyone's preferences. The food has consistently been excellent, with high-quality ingredients handled with care. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Had been coming to this cafe for years, and have been twice since their renovation (this was the second time). I really appreciate all of the work that has been done on the cafe- it looks beautiful and the little shop is always nice to browse. However, the price rises at Sylvie now make this local business one I cannot regularly support. This time when we visited, we found the food small and not worth the price. Quality was fine but it really didn't impress us the way Sylvie food used to. I am not sure if the price hikes are to help cover the cost of the renovations, but as a student, I am now being priced out as a customer. With the cost of living crisis upon us, I can no longer justify coming to Sylvie, spending appx 20 pounds per breakfast, only to leave hungry and dissatisfied. I have noticed the cafe is less busy and many of my friends have also stopped visiting. I would love to see this gem of a cafe return to it's roots so that loyal customers can return.
3 brunches with coffee etc. came to £60. All of my food was dry and cold (mushroom sausage bacon etc. and my toast was basically bread. My tomatoes also weren't cooked properly. It wasn't especially busy and nothing we had was complex in anyway, just a full english and some french toast. really disappointed to have spent £60 on such utterly mediocre food, as i don't believe any of the ingredients were particularly amazing quality in the first place, although it was hard to tell as very dry. There are far better brunch options within a 10 minute walk of this place i don't see why i would ever go back.
