The Captain's Boil - Ottawa

I ordered online and it was a novelty experience but novelty does not mean good. My food came all in one plastic bag a large mess of mussel, potato, shrimp and corn. Despite this the restaurant seemed to be priced higher than restaurants that actually plate your food and put it in somewhat functional take out containers. While the shrimp was okay the mussels were seriously over done, a hard rubbery texture, growing up my mother would purchase packs of microwave frozen mussels, the restaurants were very close to that same quality. Overall it seemed like a very lazy restaurant throwing everything in one pot leading to certain items being overdone, then dumping the pot into a plastic bag to send to your home, and then not even passing the saved labour costs onto the consumer.

The food is so overpriced for the quality. We paid $80 for takeout and the $18 fried rice was bland and only a mid-size portion. The crawfish boil was under seasoned and the side of corn was only half of a cob. The corn was sour and stale so it was overly chewy and tough. We will not be coming back. Spending $40/person on takeout for poor flavour and quality is disappointing.

The food is pricy but was good. I ordered lobster, but I should’ve just ordered the lobster poutine for the same amount of lobster meat but less than half the price. The rice was dry and tasteless. The service was slow the waitress was mainly on their phone I had to go get her. It was very hot in there too no fans or A/C. For us it was more of a 1 time experience thing.

Abit pricey but reasonable. Still a great place tbh. They need to have A.C cause it's hot and you get hot when eating as well. Overall great place

This place was absolutely disgusting. It gave us a very bad food poisoning. The service was ridiculous, couldn’t get any waiters attention because they were always on the phone. Ordered the muscles and they came back completely hard and overcooked. The rice had no flavour at all. We spent approximately 200$ there and couldn’t eat the food because it was so poorly done. Definitely will never be going back there again. I don’t recommend you do either…
