I recently tried one of the best cups of coffee in Ottawa at this restaurant. Their dark roast was exceptionally strong, similar to stove-top espresso rather than traditional drip coffee, but it was still surprisingly smooth. If you prefer to add milk or cream to your coffee, be prepared to add more than usual to achieve your desired coffee-to-dairy ratio because of its bold flavor.
One of the few places on campus with good food. One of the few places on campus with good, freshly made food. It has an overall fancy, artisan bakery vibe to it. Only down side is it's very pricey.
I am thrilled to have a Premiere Moisson in Ottawa and so close to my home. The food is consistently of high quality and delicious. I recently purchased a tourtière, chicken pot pie, a loaf of honey raisin bread, fruit ketchup, and a selection of individual desserts for a dinner party and everything was fantastic. Despite being located on the Ottawa campus in a rather odd location, I truly hope they succeed. For first-time visitors, I highly recommend trying the chocolatine (chocolate croissant).
I am a big fan of Première Moisson and was absolutely ecstatic when I learned that there was going to be one on the University of Ottawa campus. It is a refreshing change from the generally bland and very expensive food on campus. We now have access to fresh, high quality breads, pastries and desserts, as well as a great selection of jams, spreads and sweets (think chocolate... . Their coffee (filter and lattes are nothing to write home about, but they do the job of helping wash down a flaky, moist, buttery croissant! Haven't tried the sandwiches yet, but the choice was not very varied on my last two visits. The thai soup was ok, but not exceptional. The staff sometimes still seem a bit lost, but very polite. I had no trouble getting served in English on all my visits. Bottom line: go get a baguette or a croissant. You won't regret it!
