Massine's Your Independent Grocer Ottawa

My favorite grocery store in Ottawa. Lots of instore sales not announced in the flyer. Always save money here on everyday necessary items. Great prices on ground beef.

If you are staying in a downtown hotel in Ottawa and just want to prepare your own food I suggest you go to Massine’s Independent grocery. The prices are what you pay in the suburbs, the food is of good quality, there is a wide variety of produce including ready to eat meals.If you like my reviews, videos or photos then be independent and mass in towards the like button

One of their managers gave me a hard time over fixing the price of the product they over charged me for. He got rude and raised his voice at me because he didn’t want to give me it for the sale price. Yesterday he stepped in front of my cart and glared at me. The cashier gave me a hard time when I asked to speak to anyone but him and calls him over. Today my daughter went there to get something and that same manager gave her a hard time. This has been brought to the attention of the owner on more than one occasion when I left him a message about the issue, which he never bothered to call me back. He could care less about how customers are treated. Food is too expensive to be ripped off and disrespected.

Just wanted to give a big shoutout to the cashier I interacted with yesterday at the express cash register around 4.53pm on August 6 (named Hein I think? . He was very nice, professional and displayed a lot of patience and knowledge when processing some coupons that I had.

The store is generally fine. It is just not fine when someone behind me in the line cuts in front of me to take an open self checkout because they think I am not paying attention. The customer or staff directing customers to the open self checkouts could have told me there was a checkout open. I don’t think the staff member was paying attention. Nobody should have rushed ahead of me.
