House of Targ - Ottawa

Heard this place had vegan pierogis and had to check it out. It’s a grunge bar/arcade, very 80’s vibes. Pierogis we’re amazing and came with vegan cashew sour cream, onions, chives and sauerkraut. It even had a sticker that said vegan on the plate which was reassuring. A little bit pricey– it was $20 for a large, but thoroughly enjoyed them. They did take a while to come out, I feel like we waited about 25 mins and it was kind of busy. Would I go back? If I were in the area, yes! Not really a sit down dinner environment but it’s a fun place to go with friends and it’s wonderful they have a really delicious vegan option!

This is a really fun spot and the food was good! Definitely not somewhere I would go all the time but on occasion it’s fun and it’s great that they are catering to plant-based folks!

They only really serve perogies, so why the title? It is one of the few places were it truly feels like mixing with vegan and non-vegan friends doesn 't come with the standard can I eat that? The food is simple and delicious the atmosphere is uniquely Targ and the beer is excellent.

The vegan perogies here were amazing, especially with the cashew cream dill sauce. I was so stuffed after getting the Crucial Vegan Breaky for brunch. I highly recommend this place if you're in a group. Grab a mimosa or beer, have great food, and play some classic pinball or other arcade games. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun atmosphere. Dont let the outside grungy door fool you, this is a hidden gem.
