At first, when I arrived, there was a nasty canal smell, very strong I almost turned around and went, but I kept the fact that my husband was waiting and excited to eat Green Papaya's food. I brought the food home and it was still hot, that was good. The Thai coconut soup (2) was so spicy that it was hard to swallow. Ouch at $7.75 each that was a waist. When I took the order, I asked for very mild spice taste. I wasn't heard. The pad Thai so dry that we had to cut pieces with a knife to taste it and the crabs small and overcooked. I couldn't eat it. As an add-on, I had ordered the shrimp chips with peanut dipping sauce. They came in a big bag like large portion with a small container 2 ounces of diving sauce, you get the picture. In total, it was $ 42.00. Conclusion Green Papaya might see us back, but not for a long time.
Food and service was great. Hubby had chicken pillow Thai and I had shrimp and pineapple curry. Everyone tasted very good. The curry was the better of the two dishes by far.
Love the food, the staff are friendly. The restaurant is clean. Eat in or out, give it a try when you enjoy Thai.
Green Papaya is a good place for authentic Thai cuisine. The dishes are incredibly tasteful, and I recommend trying the tapioca pudding for dessert is different from all I had before. The shrimp chips are plentiful, and there are dishes for those who... are allergic to seafood. The staff is helpful and friendly.
My son got violently ill from eating a takeout meal. It was his first meal of the day around 6 pm, and a couple of hours later he was in Emerg, getting medical care with an IV and medication. Seemed that something in the chicken...pad thai was not fit for consumption. Restaurant offered the meal price back but we said forget it. Sickness lasted over a week before he felt human again. Won't go back.
