Festival Japan - Ottawa

We ducked in here for a late dinner (8:30 pm). Sushi, rolls (spicy tuna & avocado) seaweed salad (wakame), and misto soup were fresh and average. BBQ squid was over cooked. Service was slow.

This place seemed really pretty when you first walk in, but as you travel further back into the restaurant, the chip starts to paint, and the bathrooms have a nasty smell. For how expensive that place was, it would've been better if it had tasted...More

Every time I'm in Ottawa I come here for sushi. It never disappoints. Try either the sashimi combo or the sashimi/nigiri combo if you don't mind the chef choosing what you'll eat. It's always great.

I had some sushi to start and it was melt in your mouth. But I also had some ramen with spicy beef. Problem was the only spice was raw garlic. I suppose I tried to avoid eating too much garlic, but still my mount was feeling it 8 hours later. Errrr... I like garlic, but a dish that has about a bulb of raw garlic is just wrong.

Just in the city for a few days, we wanted to thank our Ottawa hosts for putting up with us for the weekend and so took them here last Saturday night. The meals were delicious, Chirashi Zushi, Royal Combination, Tempura Combination, and Katsu dinners were beautifully presented and VERY tasty. The folks around us joined in the musical enjoyment presented by the two Jazz musicians; sax/flute and guitar players. Thank you for the meal and experience. We'll be back when next in Ottawa.
