Capital Diner - Ottawa

Friendly staff, great food, excellent coffee and prices!! We will be back when we are in the City again!

There are four stairs up to this restaurant. We were seated in a booth with a view of the alley beside the building, but that was okay because we were more interested in breakfast. The coffee was good and refilled often. We both had the early bird breakfast. For $6.99 each, we had two eggs, meat of our choice (I had ham, he had sausages), and hash browns (they were delicious). Peanut butter and jam are on the table. Nothing fancy, but the food was fresh, well prepared and hot. Service was friendly and quick.

This is by no means a fancy place but it's a good place for a decent breakfast. We ate there two days in a row during our visit to Ottawa. There's a large choice on the menu and endless cups of coffee.

Slightly above average diner decor , certainly well above average diner fare and service.We went there on sunday around 11, wasn't too busy yet. We were greeted and brought to our table. The service was nice and the smoked meat mash was really good. If you are staying downtown at the various hotels , go on a bit of a walk for a diner experience , The Capital Diner is a good choice.

I have been here a few times when I am in the urge for a decent all day breakfast. The portions are excellent and the food is typical diner food. Not bad, but not exceptional either. I have had other items off the menu, but none of them have really struck me as memorable. Overall, you cannot go wrong with breakfast here.
