Gloucesters Tea Rooms - Otley

From the outside, the café looked inviting, with lovely pointed curtains and quaint windows. Being from Gloucestershire, it felt just right to give this place a try! We managed to snag a window seat, where we noticed a lovely triptych of three charming poems, which seemed to celebrate the café and the writer’s fondness for it. It set a pleasant tone for our visit, and we proceeded to look at the menu. We both opted for cappuccinos, as coffee was mentioned in one of the poems, and we found it enjoyable. While I wouldn’t say it was gourmet, the service was quick and friendly, and the café provided a relaxing atmosphere for a break. Their menu was filled with a variety of sandwiches, cakes, and other tasty treats, all at reasonable prices. The café itself was charming, and sitting by the window allowed us to enjoy watching the world go by. Overall, we had a delightful time, and I would definitely recommend this place for a coffee break!

While the staff members were friendly and courteous, I, as a healthcare professional, was quite concerned about the lack of adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. For instance, it appeared that tracking and tracing were not being enforced, and there seemed to be no effort to maintain social distancing between employees and customers. I was particularly alarmed when a maskless employee stood less than a foot away from me while I was placing my order. This was especially surprising given that the average age of the clientele appeared to be over 70, a high-risk group. It's crucial for the staff to remember that COVID-19 is still a reality, with cases currently rising exponentially, and we all want to avoid a second shutdown. Hands, face, space.

This wonderful cafe serves the nation’s favorite drink! Situated in the heart of Otley's market streets, everything from the friendly, warm staff to the slightly salted buttered breads meets the highest standards. The charming atmosphere, the caring team, and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the air create the perfect setting to kick off a Saturday morning.

Really nice traditional caffe, beautiful cake. only cash if so bring some to avoid washing the dishes
