Very good quality but at lunchtime at 1 p.m. there is often no choice left, only packaged goods.
Traditional panificio with wood fired oven, serving the most delicious regional focaccia, taralli and frise. The best we had in Puglia and not to be missed if you’re walking around Ostuni! Thank you Mikael for the recommendations!
We were on a walk in Ostuni for a visit to the city. At around 11.30pm we passed this bakery and I instinctively had to stop!! Childhood memories resurfaced when bread was made at home in a wood-fired oven and the dough was worked by hand loaf by loaf. I hadn't smelled that scent for at least 35 years. I went back in time and was very emotional. There was a boy outside at the bakery with whom we chatted and I told him about this beautiful childhood memory that had resurfaced after many, many years thanks to the scent of that bread that was baking at that moment. Well, the guy in question was the owner (Jonathan) and he presented us with a still warm loaf of bread. Beyond the piece of bread, I greatly appreciated both the gesture and the kindness of the heart. Passionate about his work and with kind eyes and manners, he told us the story of that oven. Thanks Jonathan. Ps the loaf of bread was delicious! Flavors of the past!
