D'schmitte - Ostermundigen

Ostermundigen is not a destination (trust me, I live there), but d'Schmitte is a destination unto itself! I've rarely felt so personally attended to by the couple who runs this six-table restaurant. My wife and I visit every season to experience the seasonal menu. The food is world-class, the Swiss wine list contains some rare gems and we always leave with smiles and anticipation of our next visit!

If you are staying in the city or live in another town surrounding Bern, the trip to Ostermundigen is more than wort it. The lovely couple is extremely welcoming and due to few tables it is a very cozy atmosphere. They take time to talk to all of their guests and make you feel at home in their restaurant. The food was more than perfect, local produce and fresh ingredients, nothing to complain about. They know all of their suppliers in person and can also give you more information about the vineyards etc. I would absolutely go back, you can also rent it for special occasions, which must be amazing as well. Take into consideration that you have to make reservations several weeks/months in advance, because they do not have that many tables.

The second time I have eaten here and enjoyed it again. The menus are carefully thought through and complement each other beautifully. Definitely some combinations I would never have thought of!
