There is even a playground for children to burn some of the calories, and adults can order some chilled drinks from the Green Hunter next door...
I love this place! So many different menu options! Ideal for summer and winter. Great value for money. Friendly staff and chilled environment. I would recommend it to everyone!
I was asked to visit this place by my son who had observed the well-produced YouTube video several times. We come three to four times a year to Osnabrück, and we go every time to a traditional ice cream parlour. Marketing is great. I think the concept of ordering and what ingredients could be made somewhat easier. The ice cream was nice, its interesting seeing the girls mix it on the cold stone, but the end product tastes no different. I found the pricing too confusing as there was no indication of how many toppings were included and whether it comes with whipped cream or not. I pay about 10 euros for two adults and a children's ice cream. It was somewhat overpriced, but given the manual work involved in the creation, I think it is justified. I guess I'm just a spaghetti ice cream.
When in Osnabrück locals kept asking whether I had paid a visit yet to the famous institution Schlecks. I was curious, how can an ice cream parlour be so popular? I then realized why. The concept behind Schlecks is simple in theory, but in practice...it is complicated: Choose ice cream, choose ingredients, friendly person behind the counter mixes them for you and stuffs them in a waffle cone. The difficulty arises from the fact that there are over 100 added ingredients, including various chocolate bars, seasonal fruits, nuts, American candy (think nerds and reese cups), cake (cheesecake, brownie, apple pie etc) and various other exciting possibilities. I was actually glad that there was such a long queue as I got a chance to think it through. I went for strawberry and vanilla ice cream with blueberries, raspberries, cheesecake and a fruits of the forest coulis, stuffed inside a white chocolate lined waffle cup cone. This is like really fresh custom-made Ben and Jerry 's ice cream, and the small costs just 3.50 euros. I liked the fact that there were plenty of vegan options too. This is a great idea, as is proved by its popularity amongst locals and students alike.
