I had a wonderful experience at Theater Cafe. The atmosphere was elegant with beautiful tablecloths, candles, and flowers. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and well-maintained. I also ordered the cheese dessert to go, which was delicious. Overall, I highly recommend Theater Cafe.
The restaurant was beautiful, but we found our waiter to be very condescending when we asked about the menu. My husband enjoyed his cod dish, and our friends were satisfied with the stew. However, I ordered the steak tartare and was disappointed with the presentation - it looked like dog food. The egg and aioli were served in small containers on the plate, but there was no garnish or presentation to make it more appealing. The portion size was also too large, and there were no crackers or toast to accompany it. Overall, it was the most disappointing meal we've had in Oslo.
Let’s begin with Hesse, our five star waiter. We’ve dined around the world- he’s a five star. Totally wanted to make our choices and the experience perfect. Brought the brilliant head chef to visit and discuss options with us. Kim’s veal was simply perfect as was my Arctic char. The chocolate baba dessert was divine. Dining in a beautiful restaurant across the National Theater where Ibsen proudly stands. And Bono, Elton John, and Yoko Ono ate there too. Beyond 5 stars on all aspects !!
The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere reminiscent of a classic New York or Chicago steakhouse. The service is excellent. The Toast Skagen as a starter and the spicy moules frittes were highly recommended and turned out to be the perfect choices. The sommelier is knowledgeable and expertly pairs wines with the dishes, which is strongly recommended.
