Contribuiți la feedbackIt's not hard to miss this spot as soon as you walk into the wonderful Hotel Christiania Teater. At first glance it looks like a simple but elegant bar area that could be transformed into an intimate lounge reflecting the cozy Oslo vibes that the city is well known for during the colder months. Spoiler alert it does! But when you're traveling with an eight year old, a cozy lounge area isn't exactly location that's going to charm your fellow guests. However the upstairs extension of Teatro, while certainly as stylish as its downstairs relation, is a bustling hive of drinks, conversation and, of course, pizza. We took the opportunity of convenience to dine at Teatro twice during our recent stay and each time we were met with stellar service and pizzas that might be as good as the restaurant claims them to be (best in Oslo). Our second time cemented this glowing review. We had returned from visiting friends and just needed a quick dinner so our daughter could go to bed . . . oh ok, so we all could go to bed. Clearly we have been parenting for long enough that we forgot about the Friday night free for all that happens all over the world and the restaurant was packed with an hour wait for a table. The nearby manager overheard our dining request and promptly maneuvered around some tables to give us a welcome seat in the middle of the (organized) chaos. Girls night out, old friends catching up, date night it was all happening. And yet there we were, a family of three who five minutes earlier were thinking up a plan Z for dinner, right in the middle. The manager probably has no idea that her gesture meant our last dinner in Oslo would be as relaxing as it was and we are very grateful for her thoughtfulness. While I can't class it as kid friendly (even if they have a kid's pizza on the menu) I can safely say that no matter what your dinner dynamic, Teatro has your back, your pizza, and your drinks.
We were curious and ordered the pizza with chicken and coriander, mango and peanuts. To balance it out we also ordered the teatro margherita and both were fabulous! The service was first class and the prices were reasonable for Oslo standards. We will be back!
We stayed at the hotel in the same building for a week. Didn 't expect the blurb on the hotel website about 'Norway 's best pizza ' to be true, but ended up having pizza here three times. They are that good. Especially the white pizzas. Yum yum yum. AND: the bar on the lower level is amazing, too especially if Zulu is behind the bar
The entrance might be missed, as it looks a bit like the next door hotel. The actual restaurant is upstairs, half a flight straight ahead, and then up to the right. Seating is also available downstairs at the bar, which has a slightly less formal feel to it. Better than average pizza, and that actually says a lot, because Oslo has a lot of pizza to offer. You can choose between red pizzas or white pizzas, meaning with or without tomato based sauce. Each offer perhaps 5-7 different varieties. The staff is really professional, and the place has an upscale feel. The ice cream dessert menu is to die for. Pro tip: order the coffee press with it! I only deduct a star because the last time I was there, my pizza was too cold to enjoy. Sadly the staff was also too busy for me to reach them. Book a table in advance if you can, because this place tends to get crowded.
Unique and absolutely delicious pizza’s and brilliant ice cream. By all means order a pizza but leave some space for desert so you can order the 8 scoops plate to share (or not). Lovely setting as well!
