Pongala - Osaka

The employees were very helpful to check the menu and confirm which of their herbal curries were vegan/non-dairy. the three vegan curry options are the lentil-dahl (which is superb), coconut-size, and Rossam-spicy soup curry. now I come all the time, and the service is always fast and great. updated by the previous review on 2021-10-27

The description says there are curries for vegan, but when I asked the workers when their herbal curries have milk in them, they said all the curries contain milk. also they have only several curry plates and absolutely NO side dishes at all. only to cure and drink.

Follow the instructions of the contributor above and they can find the place. exit 5 and leave the shopping center and it is directly opposite. thanks to the contributing I can even find it, I am pressed for the time.

Osaka is not tokio. while tokio has vegan and vegetarian restaurants in every neighbourhood, osaka needs some more planning and travel. when I was in the station osaka, I had very little choice, but pongala indian restaurant. it is a small place with just a few tables and a few seats around the counter. You don't go here to have a good time, you go to eat here and then you go fast. an English menu is available on request. it offers two vegetarian options: the herbal curry plate and the plate with a free choice of two curries. I chose the sweet plate and as far as I could say it was even vegan. it came with five small bowls curry, rice in the middle and some garnishing (kickbäse, green bohnen and more). the taste was good: spicy and varied in the various curries. even the presentation was decent. in short: while pongala may be her only choice in osaka station, it is quite decent. ps: I agree that it is not easy to find, but the note to look for the great Nesprosso sign really helped me. the person who has not seen the sign may have approached the restaurant from another direction.

Very annoying to find, but the person who mentioned going through the Keihan store was right. That’s the easiest way to find it. Food was good but nothing amazing. Some the dishes are spicy
