I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. We had made an online reservation specifying that I was a vegetarian, and the menu clearly indicated vegetarian options. The staff seemed to understand the distinction between vegan/vegetarian dishes, as they pointed out which items were not vegetarian due to fish sauce. We ordered the tofu pad thai, which was labeled as vegetarian, but later discovered it contained tiny shrimp. We voiced our disappointment and were given a free green curry. While the food was enjoyable, I am hesitant to return to this establishment due to the lack of trust in their labeling.
Being a vegan in Japan with a fish allergy requires extra caution. Unfortunately, the green curry at this restaurant is not vegan due to the presence of fish sauce. However, the tofu with chili basil is a delicious vegan option on the menu. The staff were very attentive to my allergy and it was a pleasant change to enjoy non-Japanese rice.
My partner is vegetarian and I am vegan, so we decided to have dinner at this restaurant as it was nearby and I was in the mood for Thai food. It was easy to locate and the directions from Google were accurate. The restaurant is situated in a nice area of town, making us feel safe walking there at night. Initially, we were told to leave, which caused some panic as we thought we might need reservations or something. However, after waiting a bit and trying again, we were able to get a table. Despite this incident, the waitresses were friendly and one of them understood what vegan means and provided us with suitable advice. Unfortunately, the menu for non-meat eaters was limited, with only five options, two of which were vegan (excluding plain rice). My partner and I both enjoyed the stir-fried tofu with holy basil and shared some delicious summer rolls. The portion sizes were larger than expected and reasonably priced. There is a good selection of alcohol and cocktails, although I was not impressed with the wine options. I would recommend this restaurant for groups with meat-eaters who are flexible. The food was delicious and well-priced, but there were fewer options than anticipated.
As usual in Japan and it's always a pleasure, very warm and friendly welcome. Food was good for both veg and non veg. It would be nice to have a wider selection of veg dishes. Bottom line: was good enough for me and my son!
