The Donald Ross Grill - Orono

Everything on the pub style menu is excellent and there are often specials too... Locals on tap... You don't need to play golf to enjoy this hidden gem!

Awesome food and a great view of the Penobscot Valley Country Club golf course. Went to a fun event for the Kentucky Derby this year and they had drink specials and a special menu including an incredible burgoo soup that I 've never had before.

We had a late afternoon lunch on a rainy day, and even though the place was empty, the staff greeted us with warm smiles. The Reuben sandwich and Buffalo chicken wrap were both fantastic. We'll definitely make a point to return the next time we're in town!

The one redeeming dish was the pork taco, which was tasty, although it had a bit too much pineapple salsa for my taste. Thankfully, I could easily remove some to suit my preference.

I've dined at the Donald Ross Grill twice in the past two weeks during my visit to the area, and I ordered the same dish both times because it was just that delicious: the Philly cheese steak sandwich and sweet potato fries. Their fries, whether sweet potato or regular, are hand-cut and have a delightful crunch on the outside while remaining soft on the inside—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sandwich itself was excellent, with no chewy bits of meat, generous portions of meat, and a bun that was lightly toasted. My husband tried the smash burger and found it to be fantastic, soon getting hooked on the fries as well! We also sampled the onion rings, which might just be the best I've ever had. The ambiance is lovely, the staff are friendly, and trivia night added an extra layer of fun to our experience!
