Contribuiți la feedbackI've only been to this restaurant a handful of times, but my friends, who frequent it regularly, always rave about it. The food I've tried has been outstanding, and I love their full bar and impressive beer selection. Their drink specials are also very enticing. I expected the place to be packed due to its location, but that wasn't the case at all. Although there is a steady stream of customers, everyone is warm and welcoming—it's a nice change from some of the less pleasant experiences I've had on Church Street.
On a side note, two of the drinks my friend ordered were also out of stock because they were kept in a locked cabinet accessible only to the manager, who, unfortunately, was not present at that time. However, the waiter did manage to find him something else to drink. Sadly, the main course I had been eagerly anticipating also let me down. The Jäger Schnitzel was cold in the center and tasted as if it had been either left out to cool or frozen. Additionally, the sides we received were not what we had ordered; instead of red cabbage and potato salad, we were served mashed potatoes and green beans. Our server was very apologetic upon our pointing out this mistake and promptly brought us the correct sides a few minutes later. On a positive note, I did enjoy the warm German-style potato salad, despite it having a few random pieces of Spaetzle mixed in. The red cabbage, usually one of my favorites, was much sweeter than usual and lacked the vinegary tartness that typically pairs well with the rich schnitzel. When it was time for the check, the server once again apologized and offered a 20% discount, acknowledging our unsatisfactory experience, which I appreciated. Even though we hadn’t specifically mentioned the issues, it was nice to see that he recognized them. I’m giving this place three stars because our server was genuinely kind and attentive, and I have had positive experiences there in the past. The lunch competition in Downtown Orlando is fierce, but I will definitely return, hoping for a better experience like my earlier visits!
My wife and I went there for lunch and were greeted by a musty smell that was quite off-putting. Since it was early in the day and we were the only customers besides a group having a painting party, we felt a bit out of place. The food was mediocre—my sandwich wasn’t great, and I didn’t enjoy the potato salad at all. That was my mistake, though; our server had mentioned that German potato salad is different and might not appeal to everyone, but I didn’t take her advice. On a positive note, the beer was enjoyable. Besides the smell, the atmosphere was pleasant; the variety of German decorations added a unique charm to the venue. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, making sure we were well taken care of.
We visited for lunch as the restaurant was opening, so we were the first customers. The decor includes delightful German-themed items on the walls, and there's even an impressive throne. Our server was friendly and took the time to answer all our menu questions. Both the beer and food were enjoyable. I ordered a sandwich that I liked, though my husband wasn't quite as keen on his. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I'd consider returning if we're in the area again.
I truly adore this restaurant. I've had wonderful experiences both at the bar during cozy dates and at large tables for significant birthday celebrations. The service is consistently friendly and well-informed. The only drawback is occasionally encountering a customer who doesn't fully appreciate the place. For example, I overheard someone arguing with the bar staff because he only wanted a Bud Light and a burger (seriously?). I sincerely hope this restaurant stays around for a long time. Be sure to try their pit specials and don't hesitate to explore something new!
