After spending one month in the noisy and stressful Los Ángeles, I decided to head to Orduña, a small village 35 minutes from Bilbao by road , or 45 minutes by train . Orduña is amazing , with many different paths one can daily walk along , having birds and their relaxing tunes as one's best friends. When it comes to have lunch I should say I like the best in all senses , that is , good food, good drink and a balanced updated atmosphere . This is the case. By chance , I found this brand new restaurant as I was strolling around the village . The very first impression was good . Nice decoration in pale white , with modern bulbs that gave a modern warm light vibe , a relaxing music that allowed me to read ... I was thrilled. Once seated I was offered the so called Menu of the Day. I was offered 4 different courses , the first 2 were fixed and the other 2 were to be chosen among several choices , and with an amazing price: 16€ VAT included per person So I went for it. The first plate was smoked salmon with lettuce and other ingredientes in the center , the second one was little beans with meat , for the third one I chose fish with vegetables made in the oven and to finish up I decided to have milky rice with cinnamon. The sizes are big and they offer vegan menus too if wanted . All in all , I think Orduña is a peaceful place in the mountains to unwind after a long journey , or just somewhere to connect to nature after an easy half an hour ride from Bilbao I do recommend Hikei restaurant as the owner himself takes care of each table giving his advice when he is asked. A pleasure for the senses ...
We are here by chance. It is a lovely small town. Place was opened just few weeks ago. All foods are great. It is obvious fusion kitchen here is at Michelin star. Owner told me that they have given recipes from Michelin star Bask cooks.
